The University of Arizona School of Music invites applications for a full time, tenure-eligible faculty position in Piano Pedagogy at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2024.
The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate curriculum in Piano Pedagogy and Piano Performance, pursue scholarship and creative work within the context of an R1 university music program and contribute to service within the university and the field at large.
The School of Music is one of the nation’s top comprehensive music programs and home to innovative faculty members who are leaders in the fields of performance, music education, jazz studies, composition, conducting, music theory, musicology, and ethnomusicology.

Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide inclusivevision for piano pedagogy in the School of Music
- Educate undergraduateand graduate-level students in piano pedagogy
- Develop curriculum fora MM and DMA Minor in piano pedagogy including new graduate-level seminars inpiano pedagogy
- Lead community outreachinitiatives that foster inclusive public engagement
- Oversee the group pianocurriculum and supervise graduate teaching assistants
- Pursue an innovativeresearch agenda in piano pedagogy leading to visibility at the national andinternational level.
- Serve on recital andgraduate committees
- Serve onSchool / College / University committees
- Recruitand mentorstudents who represent a diverse demographic
- Advise UA MTNACollegiate Chapter
- Engage withprofessional service organizations
- Lead and collaborateeffectively with colleagues on events including community outreach andengagement, recruiting, hosting of festivals, and auditions

Minimum Qualifications
- or in Piano Pedagogy, Piano Performance, or related field (must be completed by the first day of the contract)
- Demonstrated success in teaching at the college-level incorporating responsiveness to different needs and strengths of students
- Evidence of promising record of research in piano pedagogy
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned doctorate specifically in the field of Piano Pedagogy
- Experience recruiting, advising, and mentoring graduate students who represent a diverse demographic
- Experience in curriculum development, using new pedagogies and classroom strategies to advance learning
- Experience in overseeing graduate teaching assistants, establishing an inclusive, productive environment
- Active research agenda with viability of national and international visibility
