Job descriptionEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental laws, including PCB oil testing, handling, and disposal. Oversee permitting, hazardous waste management, emissions, and recycling programs tied to surplus and repair equipment. Direct environmental audits, inspections, and corrective actions. Standardize and oversee safety programs across all facilities in compliance with OSHA and NFPA standards. Lead investigations of incidents and near misses; implement corrective and preventive measures. Ensure robust safety training programs (PPE, hazard communication, emergency response, etc.). Oversee occupational health initiatives, including ergonomics, exposure monitoring, and industrial hygiene. Direct the company's workers' compensation program, including claims management, return-to-work strategies, and insurance coordination. Partner with HR, legal, and insurance providers to reduce liabilities and costs. Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and safety audits; use KPIs and data to anticipate and prevent issues. Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and applicable state / local regulations. Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies, auditors, and insurers. Oversee all reporting obligations, including OSHA logs, environmental disclosures, and sustainability metrics. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering; Master's preferred. 15+ years of progressive EHS leadership in industrial or manufacturing environments. Multi-site or corporate-level EHS program leadership experience strongly preferred. Experience managing workers' compensation programs required. CSP, CIH, CHMM, ISO 14001 / 45001 Lead Auditor (preferred) Expert knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA standards. Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills. Executive-level communication and influence across all levels of an organization. Analytical and data-driven, with ability to translate insights into action.
The Director of Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) provides enterprise-wide leadership for environmental compliance, occupational health, workplace safety, and workers' compensation programs. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and state-level regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement. The Director partners with executives, operations, HR, and engineering leaders to integrate EHS into daily operations and long-term strategy. The ideal candidate would be within commuting distance of our Temple, TX or Sharon, PA corporate office.

- Develop and execute an enterprise-wide EHS strategy aligned with business priorities and compliance obligations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on EHS performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead and develop EHS teams across multiple sites; ensure accountability and consistency.
- Champion a culture of safety ownership, compliance, and continuous improvement.
