AOC is actively seeking an experienced Health Safety and Environmental Coordinator for our Lakeland, FL location. This position will lead the safety initiatives for the plant, handle compliance reporting and help manage the environmental programs.
Key Focus Areas :
Safety - Coordinate plant processes and programs to comply with all local, state, and federal safety and health regulations including safety program development and implementation, employee training, health monitoring, record-keeping, and reporting.
Establish and maintain high housekeeping standards. Develop and monitor safety teams. Coordinate PSM program within the plant.
Environmental - Manage programs for compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal pollution prevention regulations including air, water, soil, and wastes.
This includes water usage, drinking water, water discharge (industrial and stormwater air emissions, chemical inventory and usage, and associated sampling and testing, record-keeping, permitting, and reporting.
Also communicate with the public, media, and regulators.
Activity A : Safety Compliance
- Ensure that all plant safety systems, policies, and equipment meet OSHA requirements
- Coordinate regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Lead incident investigations
- Manage and lead the plant Process Safety Management program
- Lead the plant safety teams.
- Maintain the SDS Ledger for the Florida facility. Manage the material approval process for this plant which includes the introduction of new materials and vendor changes.
Activity B : Environmental Compliance

- Coordinate all weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual industrial water and drinking water sampling and testing as required by environmental regulations.
- Develop compliance plans, cost estimates, and other necessary documentation to ensure facility compliance with environmental regulations, codes and standards.
- Coordinate preparation of permit applications through consultants. Review and submit permit applications. Meet with environmental regulators on permitting issues.
Maintain compliance with all permit conditions and insure that permits are renewed in a timely manner.
- Accompany all government personnel during regulatory compliance audits conducted at the facility. Produce required records and follow up on any non-compliance findings.
- Manage the waste program at the facility to include hazardous, non-hazardous and universal waste. Coordinate waste storage and waste disposal including proper waste profiling and documentation of waste activities.
Activity C : Employee Training and Preparation

- Develop, schedule, and conduct safety training classes for plant employees and contractors.
- Ensure that training materials are current and available for all safety meetings.
- Contract with outside training sources to ensure compliance.
Activity D : Record Keeping and Reporting
10 %
Maintain records and submit reports to comply with Corporate and regulatory requirements. These include monthly submittals of water usage, water discharge sampling results, drinking water testing results, incident status report, waste inventory report as well as annual water discharge toxicity test results, Form R, Tier II, Air Operating Report, semi-annual Superfund Operations and Maintenance Report, bi-annual Hazardous Waste Report, policy revisions and updates, Hazard Assessments, and other regulatory forms and reports.

- Promote annual safety celebrations, as required.
