Summary : The Superintendent is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of skilled trade workers and subcontractors involved in ship construction, repair, overhaul, and conversion projects. This role ensures that all work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance with maritime regulations and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities :

• Supervise day-to-day operations for assigned craft (e.g., welding, pipefitting, electrical, painting, joinery, outfitting) across multiple shipbuilding or ship repair projects.
• Lead craft teams in interpreting ship specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Ensure all work complies with ABS, NAVSEA, USCG, or other applicable maritime standards and shipyard regulations.
• Monitor productivity, quality, and progress to ensure adherence to production schedules and budget targets.
• Plan and allocate labor, materials, tools, and equipment to optimize work performance.
• Coordinate with engineering, planning, QA / QC, safety, and logistics teams to align work execution with project goals.
• Conduct safety toolbox talks and enforce shipyard safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
• Identify and address technical and logistical challenges to avoid schedule delays.
• Maintain accurate reports on manpower, progress, materials, delays, and issues.
• Mentor and develop craft leads, foremen, and junior employees to build strong, skilled teams.
• Participate in production planning meetings and provide input on workforce planning and resource allocation.
