Civil Engineer (EIT) – Land Development

Location : Austin, TX

Salary Range : $70,000 – $105,000 annually (DOE)

Total Compensation Package : $85,000 – $125,000+ (including benefits and professional growth opportunities)

Position Overview

Carlson Brigance & Doering (Represented by Luxus Group Recruiting) is seeking a Civil Engineer (EIT) with 2+ years of land development experience to join its Land Development team in Austin, TX . This position is ideal for a motivated civil engineer who wants to gain hands-on experience across residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects while working closely with senior engineers and project managers.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Analysis

Assist in the design of civil engineering projects including grading, utilities, stormwater management, and roadways.

Perform engineering calculations for hydrology, drainage, and erosion control.

Prepare and review plans, drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and Civil 3D .

Project Coordination

Support project managers in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.

Collaborate with contractors, design teams, and stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met.

Contribute to the preparation of proposals, estimates, and construction documentation.

Regulatory Compliance & Permitting

Assist with preparation of permit applications for local, state, and federal approvals.

Research and ensure compliance with zoning codes, building codes, and environmental regulations .

Attend meetings with municipalities and regulatory agencies as needed.

Field Investigations & Data Collection

Conduct site visits to gather field data on utilities, grading, and environmental conditions.

Assist in preparing reports on site evaluations and provide design recommendations.

Document findings and support issue resolution during the design process.

Collaboration & Communication

Communicate effectively with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders.

Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.

Participate in team meetings and provide updates on assigned tasks.

Project Support & Documentation

Assist in preparing contract documents and construction specifications.

Review contractor submittals and shop drawings.

Maintain well-organized project records and design documentation.

Professional Development

Continue to develop technical skills through mentorship and training.

Stay current with industry standards and best practices.

Participate in professional organizations to support career growth.

Qualifications

Education : Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Certification : Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required.

Experience : Minimum of 2 years in civil engineering, preferably land development.

Technical Skills : AutoCAD, Civil 3D; knowledge of grading, stormwater, and utility systems.

Soft Skills : Strong communication, teamwork, and attention to detail.

Preferred : GIS knowledge.

Familiarity with environmental permitting processes.

Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
