Sr. Estimator/Project Manager-Glass & Glazing
CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY POSITION
Expected Competency Level for Estimating :
Budgeting scope items based on an inherent understanding of both unit and square foot costs
Ability to complete accurate takeoffs and get pricing
Understand vendor quotes and potential exclusions or errors
Ability to assemble pricing and assign labor to various tasks
Understand how to drive sales by adjusting margin and explore creative ways to save costs
Suggest value engineering options that will make bids more competitive
Follow up with customers to finalize sale
Review specifications and contract drawings to ensure full scope capture and no discrepancies exist
Understand contract language and navigate final scope exhibits with general contractors
Be able to price new systems that you have never seen before by extrapolating product information and installation instructions
Expected Competency Level for Project Management :
Create submittals
Create or source shop drawings
Complete material takeoffs from shop drawings
Order all materials for the job site
Source and organize labor
Generate subcontracts for labor
Understand job costing
Understand lead times and how to organize material releases, fabrication, and installation to meet job schedule requirements
Understand how to manage material and labor so the job comes within budget
