Director of Facility Operations

The Director of Facility Operations directs the Facilities and Housekeeping teams ensuring the physical maintenance of the Long Center campus and all related systems. Drawing on experience in managing event-focused facilities this position will work cross-departmentally to ensure consistent and professional performance at the venue. The ideal candidate brings an organized and pragmatic set of skills and solutions to advance daily project management and event support for the Long Centers operational needs and the needs of all partner facilities.

Overseeing the staff and systems that make our 240000 square foot 7-acre campus thrive this position is responsible for planning promoting procuring directing and coordinating building management operations and required support services for mechanical electrical fire and life safety plumbing and waste management systems structural modifications and improvements. This includes developing budgets administering service contracts and engaging with the executive team on long-term planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Apply to Long Center and all partner facilities

The essential functions include but are not limited to the following :

• Develops organizational directives policies and procedures that ensure efficient operations and programs for facilities management.
• Develops and coordinates comprehensive preventative and routine maintenance programs for the overall facility and mechanical systems consistent with budget and needs.
• Directs managers and teams in the Facilities Housekeeping and Operations Departments to effectively and efficiently coordinate activities for all assigned functional areas of responsibility.
• Develops implements and refines departmental systems and goals that support both the day-to-day and long-term objectives of the facility.
• Provides advice and direction to the Executive team on all matters pertaining to engineering mechanical systems building services custodial services electrical services safety and transportation.
• In collaboration with the Long Center leadership team and relevant public safety authorities; develops implements and refines Emergency Response Programs inclusive of safety and emergency procedures including fire medical evacuation weather response and alarm systems.
• Collaborates across departments to support the planning staffing and execution of events and operations.
• Develops annual budget and forecast for all facility support systems and teams along with routine financial planning management and reporting.
• Ensures prompt and cost-effective solutions for unexpected maintenance requirements.
• Recommends modifications improvements and replacements for existing capital equipment and physical plant facilities.
• Plans and manages annual capital improvement projects on time and on budget.
• Manages and oversees facility service contracts and contractors administer RFPs negotiating contracts and ensuring fulfillment in scope of work.
• Develops and implements training career path departmental structure and individual goal setting to support team development and retention.
• Other duties as assigned or arise.

The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate and can be high at times. Ear protection and other safety equipment will be provided if needed.
