Other Conditions : General funds, to begin approximately January 2026, contingent on satisfactory performance, operational and program needs, actual staffing requirements, and availability of funds. Position may be converted from 9-month to 11-month or 11-month to 9-month, as operational needs are required. This assignment may include day, evening and weekend teaching assignment, teaching on campus and off-campus at military bases, and / or secondary education sites (high schools). To teach on military bases, U.S. Department of Defense security clearance will be required. To teach Early College courses for the State Department of Education schools, background checks will be required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work independently and collaboratively with the Early Childhood Education (ECE) faculty to fulfill the ECE program's mission through various roles and responsibilities. Will be responsible for teaching a wide range of credit courses and non-credit offerings (both in-person and on-line) including offerings during the day, evening, weekend, both on and off campus.
  • Administration and supervision of a campus children's center that serves as a field placement site for Early Childhood Education students through various roles and responsibilities.
  • Prepare, adapt, develop, revise and implement course outlines, student learning outcomes, course objectives and syllabi in order to meet student needs and college objectives.
  • Work independently and with the guidance of colleagues to develop, select and implement strategies to meet student needs, and to develop and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Work under the guidance of colleagues to develop an understanding of student needs in Early Childhood Education.
  • Maintain subject matter currency and be willing to continually update courses to keep up with college and student needs.
  • Develop curriculum and align courses to meet student needs, workforce needs, and college objectives.
  • Serve as faculty mentor / advisor to Early Childhood Education students.
  • As necessary, place and follow up with students in community-based practicum settings.
  • Perform course assessment as well as assist in program and institution level assessment, and improve student learning based on results of assessment data.
  • Related work activities include, but are not limited to, assisting in campus-related student activities; participating in faculty / administrative campus and community service, participating in college committees, recruitment activities and in-service training; maintaining an approved program of professional self-development; collecting data and preparing reports; preparing, adapting, revising course objectives; and independently planning, organizing, and carrying out instructional and non-instructional assignments, and in collaboration with other faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrate commitment to community colleges mission and philosophy : support an "open door" access policy, working to ensure student success, and serving a diverse student and community population.
  • Work with various state agencies, community and other partnerships to improve Early Childhood Education and facilitate student opportunities and success.
  • Maintain at least one (1) office hour per week for each course taught at a time convenient for enrolled students.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • (a) Master's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field : Child Development, Human Development, Family Resources, Human Ecology, Elementary Education with a specialty in ECE, Early Childhood and Special Education (blended) Elementary and Early Childhood (Dual Preparation) and Curriculum Studies in Early Childhood Education; or,
  • (b) Master's degree in any field and 15 credits in Early Childhood Education (ECE) related courses and 1 year of related work experience; or,

    (c) Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field : Child Development, Human Development, Family Resources, Human Ecology, Elementary Education with a specialty in ECE, Early Childhood and Special Education (blended) Elementary and Early Childhood (Dual Preparation), Social Science with Concentration in Early Childhood Education, and Curriculum Studies in Early Childhood Education plus three (3) years related work experience; or,

    (d) Bachelor's degree in any field and 15 credits in Early Childhood Education (ECE) related courses plus five (5) years related work experience.

  • Related fields include : Human Development, Family Resources, Human Ecology, and Social Work with a specialty in ECE.
  • If qualified applicants are not available, others will be considered on an Acting Instructor basis.
  • Desirable Qualifications

  • Evidence of successful teaching at the community college level or equivalent experience.
  • At least five (5) years experience in the field of Early Childhood Education with progressively higher levels of responsibility which include teaching children ages five years old and younger.
  • Evidence of successful work experience administering an early childhood program.
  • Experience with and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice and curriculum design for young children
  • Demonstrated ability in college curriculum development using student learning outcomes and student-centered learning.
  • Ability to employ writing assignments and critical skill development as a part of the students' classroom learning activities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of licensing and accreditation standards
  • Experience in use of technology to support instruction and student success, including but not limited to LMS, CRM, Early Alert and presentation software.
  • and willingness to adapt to new technology platforms.
  • Experience in development and delivery of distance education and web supported curriculum.
  • Experience in working with diverse and multi-ethnic student populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently and as a member of a team.
