Overview
Business Development Sr. Directors are responsible for maximizing sales, promoting and protecting the brand. They drive retail sales and performance and serve as trusted consultants, coaches, leaders, and partners in the success of the company, local purveyors, and their retail customers. They lead collaboration across Boar's Head and retail organizations, share product knowledge enthusiastically, and execute strategies that drive results.
Job Description
Essential Functions
- Own retail relationships within the division through regular meeting cadence.
- Collaboratively develop strategic road‑maps with retailers and local purveyors for each assigned division.
- Lead the development of annual and quarterly business plans leveraging advertising, promotion, new item introduction, distribution, and consumer / service initiatives.
- Collaborate with marketing, training, catalog leadership, BSM, and business analysis to set goals, measure progress, and conduct post‑event analysis.
- Lead and own retail playbooks for all assigned accounts, communicating merchandising execution at store level.
- Understand the LP model and requirements as defined in the “Characteristics of an Ideal LP.”
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of distribution, sales, finance, and operational systems.
- Build strong partnerships with local purveyors to grow business.
- Identify customer gaps and opportunities and develop plans to fill them.
- Demonstrate hunting and farming skills to drive sales.
- Conduct strategic market evaluation for growth opportunities and maintain proactive account management.
- Maintain regular communication with each LP to build credibility and support their needs.
- Set accurate, decisive goals and execute structured plans, measuring results.
- Evaluate and measure the success of each LP and their retail partners via sales and profitability monitoring.
- Serve as an LP mentor for product mix opportunities.
- Maximize effectiveness of all LP marketing activities at the retail and deli associate level.
Qualifications
12+ years of retail management experience in national or regional multi‑unit retailers with expertise in operations and selling.Experience leading large teams with proven results.Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.Ability to foster an environment of trust and respect.Critical thinker who can think and behave like a business owner.Strong strategic and tactical planning ability.Highly developed organizational, project, and time‑management skills.Collaborative partner across diverse individuals and companies.Proficient in Microsoft Office.Location
