SUMMARY
An instructional design specialist will collaborate with instructors in the development and implementation of all curricula and instructional materials, provide support in the management of courses on the district LMS (Canvas), and provide guidance on the implementation of instructional strategies and classroom management.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
- Master’s Degree in Education with a preference to curriculum development
- A minimum of three years experience in teaching with a preference of experience teaching career and technical education programs
- Knowledge and / or experience in :
- individualized, competency-based instruction
- learning management systems
- competency-based grading
- Ability to effectively work with faculty, staff, administration, and industry professionals
- Computer proficiency with different platforms and software applications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Program Support
- Work with instructors to develop and implement an individualized, competency-based delivery system that addresses the following :
- Research-based methods of instruction
- Individual learning style preferences
- Competency-based grading systems that accurately reflect student learning and achievement
- Methods of assessment that are measurable and meaningful
- Systematic approach to instruction
- Provide guidance to instructors in instructional practices and classroom management
- Provide support to / for : update and maintain courses on the district LMSimprove, update, and maintain instructional materials for each programnew instructors in transitioning from industry to teachingindividual program accreditation
- Assist instructors with continuous revision and implementation of a program plan of study to ensure satisfactory academic progress for each student
Professional Development
- Plan and provide professional development for the areas listed in program support
- Serve on the professional development committee
Professional
Participate in local, state, and national organizations related to career and technical education, curriculum, instructional material, and educational technology.
Other
Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the administration.

The primary work environment is in an office environment that regularly requires employee to sit for extended periods of time.
