Executive Director
The Executive Director is responsible for overall leadership, mission and operation of Missouri River Relief (MRR). They protect the organization’s financial assets and organizational culture while ensuring compliance with board directives, applicable grantor, federal, and state requirements.
The ED builds and maintains partner relationships in the community while overseeing and directing organizational planning and implementation of outreach goals.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership in the nonprofit sector, with a passion for MRR's mission and a commitment to furthering the organization's sustainability and growth.

Responsibilities
- Organizational Mission & Strategy Work with board and staff to ensure the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community partnerships.
- Financial Performance & Viability Responsible for adopting and following organizational policies to maintain MRR's financial well-being, as well as its non-profit and legal good standing.
- Board Governance Work with the board to fulfill MRR’s mission by providing necessary information, guidance and support.
- Fundraising Ensure healthy relationships with funders and formulate plans that support MRR’s financial growth.
- Organizational Operations Work with MRR Staff and Board to ensure a healthy work environment and strategic planning for sustainable growth.
Qualifications
The Director must possess knowledge and skills which may result from formal education or experience in non-profit operational and financial management.
To perform effectively in this position, the individual should demonstrate the following core competencies.
Leading people : Team building, cultural awareness, integrity and honesty, conflict resolution, managing in stressful situations.
Leading change : Demonstrate openness to different ways of doing things by employing a culture of continuous improvement.
Recognize and understand factors outside of the organization. Experience with strategic planning and implementation.
Communicating and building community : Employing interpersonal skills, communicating both verbally and in writing. Partnering with other organizations.
Skill and experience in public presentations.
Exercising business judgment : Fiscal responsibility, strategic management, making data-informed decisions.
Fundraising and Fund Management : Skills and experience in building relationships with corporate, foundation, individual, government and community organizations to cultivate sustainable funding opportunities.
Preferred knowledge and skills : Knowledge and experience with the Missouri River Community; experience with QuickBooks, CRM database and modern computer skills;
outdoor / recreational experience on Missouri waterways.
