Zayo is seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Payroll Specialist to support our Payroll team during a peak period. The ideal candidate will have multi-state payroll experience and familiarity with Workday or similar HRIS / payroll systems. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage payroll processes accurately and on time. In addition to payroll processing, this role will also assist with HR system build support, testing, and payroll-related projects.
Key Responsibilities :
Process semi-monthly / multi-state payroll in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Review and audit payroll reports to ensure accuracy of employee data, timekeeping, deductions, and taxes.
Handle payroll-related inquiries from employees and provide excellent customer service.
Assist with year-end payroll activities.
Partner with HR and IT teams on HR build support, testing, and payroll system enhancements.
Contribute to payroll-related projects and process improvements.
Ensure compliance with company policies and wage and hour laws.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other teams to resolve payroll discrepancies.
Maintain payroll documentation and support audits as needed.

Required Skills & Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of payroll experience, with multi-state payroll processing required.
Experience using Workday Payroll is highly desirable (other payroll / HRIS systems also considered).
Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, wage and hour laws, and tax regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.
