Overview
The Manager, Development Analytics is a strategic partner within the Hospital for Special Surgery Development team, responsible for transforming data into actionable intelligence that drives fundraising performance and growth. This role leads the development of data-driven strategies across the department, ensuring analytics are integrated into decision-making at every level. In partnership with HSS Data, this position oversees Development's reporting platforms and data warehouse, ensuring tools such as Tableau and Alteryx deliver reliable, timely, and meaningful insights. This position reports to the Director of Development Operations.
This role is primarily remote, with flexibility to work from the New York City office when business needs or team collaboration require in-person presence.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Development leadership and frontline staff to design and deliver data-driven strategies, providing actionable insights that strengthen prospect identification, donor engagement, campaign planning, and fundraising performance.
- In partnership with HSS Data, lead the development and maintenance of the department's data warehouse, ensuring data quality, system integrity, and integration between Raiser's Edge NXT, the data warehouse, Tableau, and Alteryx.
- Create and manage dynamic reporting tools, dashboards, and visualizations to monitor fundraising metrics, donor behaviors, and prospect pipelines, aligning analytics with institutional priorities and KPIs.
- Conduct prospect and donor data analysis, predictive modeling, segmentation, and forecasting to support donor acquisition, retention, and revenue growth.
- Provide benchmarking analysis and performance evaluations to measure the effectiveness of fundraising programs and recommend strategies for improvement.
- Build and nurture a culture of data-driven decision making through training, consultation, and proactive support to Development colleagues at all levels.
- Participate in the creation, implementation and governance of data policies, collaborating with Development, IT, and CAMP to ensure data security, consistency, and best practices across all systems.
- Stay informed on emerging trends and technologies in fundraising analytics, bringing forward innovative solutions to advance the department's philanthropic goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; degree in data science, statistics, business analytics, information management or a related field preferred.Proficiency in data analysis languages such as SQL, Python, and R, with the ability to extract, manipulate, and interpret large datasets.Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in fundraising analytics, prospect research, development operations, or related fields within a nonprofit, healthcare, or higher education environment.Strong experience working with fundraising CRM platforms and data visualization tools.Demonstrated success developing, maintaining, and leveraging a fundraising data warehouse or similar data infrastructure.Competencies

The base pay scale for this position is $79,500.00 - $121,125.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
