Position is accountable for leading product development efforts across the Cardiac Management Solutions division of ZOLL.

Essential Functions

• Develop and execute technology-focused research and development strategies and plans
• Drive the development of new products that enable execution of the global business strategy
• Drive the development of software systems and tools that support world-class services delivery
• Effectively support existing products and customer service activities
• Lead, direct and organize activities of the R&D group
• Manage diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities
• Develop a deep understanding of the clinical applications, patient needs, and prescriber requirements
• Work closely with Marketing, Product Management, Sales, Support Services, and Reimbursement
• Serve as a key member of the management team
• Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the department
• Assure that department achieves objectives and project completion within budget and time frame
• Be a student of current clinical and industry trends
• Competent in complex electronic hardware and software systems design, implementation, validation, and support

Required / Preferred Education and Experience

Minimum BS required, Advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of industry experience required. A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible engineering experience, with at least 5 years at the senior management level required. Experience in the development of complex electronic and software systems required. Experience with medical device development including regulatory requirements required.

Ability to define and employ quantitative / statistical assessment approaches. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated team building and leadership skills. Effective team player who is also capable of working independently with strong self-motivation.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions

This position is generally performed in a typical office environment that is usually quiet. Employee is expected to work collaboratively with team members, as well as able to work independently with limited supervision. Work will require significant computer and telephone work. This position is based in Pittsburgh but will require occasional travel.
