To assist the Safety Manager in maintaining the integrity of company safety and health programs through the training and education of all personnel regarding all Federal, State, Local, and JBCC standards as they relate to the construction industry.
We’re looking for you to do the following :
A. Authority : As delegated by the Safety Manager
B. Accountability
1. JBCC Safety and Health Program - Assurance that company standards of Safety and Health are in place.
2. JBCC field crews - Assure all field and support crews are following Federal, State, Local, Customer, and JBCC safety guidelines and standards while on jobsite.
3. Subcontractors - Assure all subcontractors are following all Federal, State, Local, Customer, and JBCC safety guidelines and standards while on jobsite.
C. Essential Functions
1. Monitor and Enforce All Federal, State, Local, project specific, and company safety policies and procedures.
2. Project Inspections Conduct thorough jobsite inspections, focusing on the identification of potential hazards on the project.
Report and record all deficient observations to Safety Manager and project Foreman. Ensure that deficiencies are immediately corrected, and / or schedule and perform follow-up of scheduled corrective actions.
Maintain records of each completed inspection. Provide necessary information to Safety Manager for monthly safety forum / committee presentations.
3. Safety Equipment - Maintain PPE stock, assist with the selection of appropriate safety equipment, and distribution to crew.
As necessary, review the proper use and maintenance of required equipment.
4. Equipment Calibration / Re-certification Testing Ensure that all voltage rated equipment and gas detectors are tested and / or calibrated in accordance with manufacturer specifications or Federal, State, or local regulations.
Maintain records of equipment location, and testing / calibration expiration dates.
5. Utility Locates Assist the Utility Locate Coordinator in managing the utility locate program when necessary.
6. Communication Work with General Foremen, Superintendents, Foremen and Project Managers to address specific line of business safety needs.
7. Education - Review safety standards, policies, and procedures as requirements change. Remain proficient in the laws and regulations related to JBCC projects and work activities.
8. Investigative functions - Assist in incident / near-miss investigations to determine contributing factor and root cause analysis.
Gather materials and assist in the investigation of OSHA audits and violations resulting from such audit.
9. Networking Develop relationships throughout the industry; customer personnel, safety industry peers, and utility locate contacts.
Serve as a liaison between JBCC and our customers / subcontractors.
D. - Training
1. Prepare, assist and / or conduct appropriate project safety training, and task specific safety awareness, as needed. Maintain the integrity of training documentation.
2. Orientation of new employees and subcontractor personnel.
3. Corrective Action Refresher Assist in the development, preparation, and conduction of safety training as it relates to the corrective actions deemed necessary following a root cause analysis and / or safety inspection deficiency.
E. Leadership
1. Define and identify the individual team member’s roles and responsibilities.
2. Coordinate and be available for task specific requests from field crew leaders and project managers
3. Integrity - Expeditiously and reasonably resolve all safety related issues and conflicts, as well as all customer safety concerns and issues.
4. Actively Participate - In identifying potential jobsite hazards and encourage field crews to do the same. Assist in mitigation of identified hazards.
5. Safety Program Improvement Provide effective suggestions for continued improvement of JBCC corporate and project specific safety programs.
6. Accountability Ability to take initiatives, manage and schedule work week, and request assistance from Safety Manager as necessary
You Have :
Experience - Minimum 5 years’ experience in a construction environment. Preferred Bilingual. General knowledge of Construction Safety Standards -CFR 1926.
Ability to handle pressure and adapt to a variety of field conditions. Ability to identify unsafe conditions / acts, and to determine methods for controlling, eliminating, or preventing such exposures.
Communication - Ability to relate to a diverse group of individuals throughout the organization. People oriented personality to sell safety programs to the field.
Good customer relation skills.
