Overview

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks an Biostatistician with a focus in large data sets and machine learning who will work within the Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research ( http : / / halecenter.

dfci.harvard.edu) .The Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research focuses on Pancreatic Cancer Research and one area of focus in early detection of Pancreatic Cancer using electronic medical records data.

This role will help to analyze this data to evaluate the quality of this data, risk, and outcomes.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Design and implement studies to evaluate determinants of pancreatic cancer risk and outcomes
• Collaborate with other laboratory members with expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, pathology, molecular biology, and functional genomics
• Conduct analyses using statistical software, such as SAS, R, and others
• Participate in group meetings and work collaboratively on larger projects with other group members
• Generate data for figures and tables to serve as the basis for published manuscripts
• Write manuscripts describing research results
• Write grants and progress reports related to research funding

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

• Experience managing and analyzing large datasets
• Strong commitment to cancer research is required; experience with digital pathology, transcriptomics and tumor genomics would be an advantage
• High level of dedication to work
• Ability to work independently and perform troubleshooting when needed
• Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff
• Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems
• Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Multitasking essential

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Statistics or Biostatistics
• Strong background in epidemiology and statistics
