What We Need :
We are seeking a good news writer, focused and driven to seek out stories. Able to anchor radio newscasts with a good voice, clear speech, and conversational reading style.
What You'll Do :
- Anchor Newscasts for multiple markets
- Maintain crucial deadlines in order to provide news stories in a timely fashion.
- Write clear and concise news copy Produce, edit and write content for 24 / 7 Newswire.
- Gather audio from press conferences, live events, and partner TV stations.
- Produce, edit and write content for 24 / 7 Newswire.
- Monitor sources for breaking news, e.g., wires and social media.
- Must have general knowledge of all current events including but not limited to political, entertainment, sports, finance or military.
- Finalize content using digital audio editing software.
- Produce short-form reports (voicers / wraps) for anchors on the following shift.
- Repackage content from producers and field reporters for newscasts.
- May be called on to anchor breaking news reports as needed.
- May produce features and interviews as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned
What You'll Need :
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and social networking platforms
- Clear, pleasant, and well-controlled voice; excellent pronunciation
- Personable, charismatic reading style and delivery
- Ability to accept coaching and adapt to energetic and contemporary news style and delivery
- Well-rounded communication skills for conducting interviews
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent contemporary writing, wordsmithing, and editing skills; proficient in grammar
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in media production and broadcast systems
- Ability to plan and organize, set priorities, use critical thinking skills for story selection, and able to multi task in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Spanish a bonus
Work Experience :
1+ years’ experience in on-air journalism preferred
Education :
4-year college degree preferred in Broadcast Journalism or Communications; current student will be considered.
