Job Description

Lead and oversee all preconstruction activities, including budgeting, estimating, scheduling, and project planning. Develop and manage project budgets and cost models from conceptual through detailed design stages. Collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers to align design intent with budget and constructability goals. Oversee the estimating team, ensuring accurate quantity takeoffs, pricing, and value engineering options. Drive project strategy and risk assessment during the preconstruction phase to support informed decision-making. Establish and maintain relationships with trade partners and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable input. Lead preconstruction meetings and presentations, effectively communicating project scope, cost, and schedule strategies. Implement preconstruction best practices and process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration. Partner with operations and project management teams to ensure seamless project handoff into construction. Provide executive-level reporting and forecasting on preconstruction progress, budgets, and pipeline activity.

The Successful Applicant

5+ years of experience working in the commercial construction industry as Director of Preconstruction. Strong understanding of light industrial, commercial interiors, and / or healthcare construction. Strong familiarity and experience in Business Development. Ability to estimate work as needed and lead a team of other estimators. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative mindset. Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
