Job Title : Trademark Paralegal
Location : Irvine, CA 92602 - Hybrid Required (Mon, Tues, Wed Onsite / Thurs, Fri Remote)
Duration : Short term - through the end of 2025 (Possible Extension)
Top 3-5 Required Skills / Experience / Education :
- At least 2 years of trademark prosecution experience (preparation of documents for submission to USPTO)
- Ability to draft concise and effective communications (cease & desist letters, emails to outside counsel)
- Ability to conduct trademark searches (familiarity with USPTO database)
- Ability to retrieve and review trademark docket
Overview :
The Trademark Paralegal contractor is responsible for supporting trademarks. The role includes assisting attorneys with filings, maintaining records, supporting disputes, and ensuring compliance with legal and procedural requirements. This position involves extensive interaction with outside counsel, internal employees, and high-level management .
Required Qualifications :
4-year bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-certified programMinimum 2 years of trademark prosecution experience (preparing and submitting documents to USPTO)Strong ability to draft concise trademark communications ( Cease & Desist letters, outside counsel emails )Proficiency in trademark searches and USPTO / major searching platformsDemonstrated ability to retrieve, review, and analyze trademark docketsExperience preparing declarations of use and gathering specimens for trademark officesStrong verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for collaborationStrong writing and analytical skills for drafting and reviewing legal documents independentlyHighly organized with project management and multitasking abilities to meet deadlinesProficiency with database management, Excel, and legal softwareAble to handle routine and increasingly complex problems independently, proposing solutions when appropriateKey Responsibilities :
Coordinate and organize documentation and information requests related to trademark disputesAssist attorneys in case preparation, fact finding, and investigation activities, including conducting comprehensive searches using USPTO and other databasesPrepare and file prosecution documents (applications, declarations of use, specimens) for USPTO and other agenciesRetrieve and review trademark dockets to ensure accurate tracking and deadline managementDraft communications, including cease & desist letters and trademark-related correspondenceRespond to document requests or inquiries from internal and external partiesLiaise regularly with outside law firms, internal employees, and senior management on trademark disputesConduct online research and trademark database searches
