The Manager, Field Communications (MFC) is a vital member of the Communications & Advancement Department, responsible for shaping the League's internal voice and strengthening communication across its federated network of state and local affiliates. Reporting directly to the Senior Communications Manager, Press Secretary, this role serves as both a strategic communicator and a tactical first responderensuring that League members are informed, aligned, and supported through timely, clear, and mission-driven messaging.

The MFC develops and disseminates a wide range of communications content for members of both the League of Women Voters of the United States (501(c)(4)) and the League of Women Voters Education Fund (501(c)(3)), navigating the distinctions between advocacy and educational messaging. This role is embedded within the League's "war room" rapid response infrastructure and plays a key role in national-level crisis communications, especially when state and local issues escalate to national visibility.

The MFC serves as a central connector between the national office and the field, working to : grow communications capacity in the field and ensure Leagues feel equipped, seen, and aligned; build and achieve internal message goals; and support organizational priorities. This role is responsible for day-to-day internal communications needs, creating communications materials to support hundreds of state and local Leagues, and managing internal communications platforms for membership.

The salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000 based on qualifications and experience.

  • Capacity Building & Visibility Support : Provide direction, tools, and resources to increase the visibility and communications capacity of state and local Leagues, including templates, training, and strategic guidance.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration : Partner with program staff and other departments to ensure League initiatives are effectively communicated to volunteers and leaders. Maintain consistency of messaging across all internal channels.
  • Content Creation & Distribution : Manage the development and dissemination of internal communications materials such as newsletters, talking points, one-pagers, press releases, sample social media posts, and email copy. Ensure content is tailored to diverse audiences across the League's network.
  • Platform Oversight : Oversee and maintain internal communications platforms, including the League Management Site. Lead improvements to enhance user experience and accessibility.

  • Brand Stewardship : Monitor field usage of LWV branding and logos. Provide guidance and build a League-owned image library through field event opportunities to ensure consistent and appropriate visual representation.
  • Press Coordination : Facilitate press opportunities for state Leagues on priority issues, ensuring alignment with national messaging and media strategy.
  • Volunteer-Centered Communication : Communicate with empathy and understanding of volunteer dynamics. Tailor messaging to meet the needs of a diverse, decentralized membership base, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
