Job description

Service Desk Technician (Hybrid)

Location : Vienna, VA

Clearance Requirements : None

Position Status : Contract

Pay Rate : $25–$27 / hr

Position Description

We are seeking a Service Desk Technician to join a fast-paced, high-volume IT support environment in Vienna, VA . This hybrid role is ideal for candidates who excel in customer service, have strong troubleshooting abilities, and thrive in environments that require quick thinking, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence.

As part of the Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) support team, you will serve as a primary point of contact for end users—delivering first-contact resolution, accurate ticket documentation, and timely escalation when needed. This role requires 10 onsite days per month and includes two weeks of onsite training.

Schedule : Monday–Friday, 8 : 00 AM–4 : 30 PM EST

Hybrid Requirement : 10 days onsite per month

Training : 2 weeks onsite in Vienna, VA

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 technical support via inbound calls, web queues, email, and outbound communication.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine IT issues using available tools and knowledge bases.
  • Document all activities and resolutions using Word, Excel, and internal databases.
  • Escalate issues outside Tier 1 scope to appropriate teams.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and mentoring discussions.
  • Maintain compliance with ETS policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Support team and business goals through consistent performance and high-quality service.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Education

  • General understanding of information technology concepts.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-resolution experience.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems and common IT terminology.
  • Experience resolving routine administrative or system issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Professional, customer-focused approach with strong soft skills.
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Tier 1 technical support or Service Desk experience.
  • Previous experience in a call center or customer support environment.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices and processes.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing platforms.
  • Familiarity with Navy Federal operations or other large enterprise environments.
  • Proven ability to thrive in high-volume, rapidly changing technical support settings.
