Position Description :
The Dental Radiology Technician II performs radiographic exams as prescribed by the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology faculty of the School of Dentistry or requesting clinical faculty.
This position also requires the individual to perform orientation, clinical supervision, instruction, and evaluation of dental and dental hygiene students for laboratory and clinical courses in radiography and radiology.
This individual is responsible for the image quality of all images within the clinical oral radiology area.
Eligible for $3,000 Sign-on / retention bonus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform maxillofacial x-ray (radiographic) examinations in clinics and is responsible for image quality assurance
- Instruct DMD and dental hygiene students in performance of intraoral and extraoral radiographic techniques
- Prepare patients for radiographic examinations by explaining the procedure and ensuring proper positioning of both the patient and the radiographic equipment
- Assess image quality according to defined criteria, and assess and approve dental student performance
- Set up / break down radiology operatories in accordance with standard infection control guidelines
- Prepare and distribute equipment needed for intraoral radiographic procedures to dental students
- Assist in the performance of maxillofacial cone beam computed tomography procedures
- Maintain the supply and function of printers.
- Answer the department phone.
- Perform and distribute duplicate radiographic records.
- Assess, record and file academic evaluations of dental students
- Other clinical and administrative duties in support of the overall operations of the dental school as deemed appropriate by the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology faculty in discussion with the designated clinical supervisor of ULSD.
Target Compensation Maximum : $31.38
Target Compensation Minimum : $20.92
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
