Oncology Data Assistant

Summary

Registers and follows patients with a diagnosis of malignancy; retrieves and analyzes registry data and disseminates data in accordance with professional standards and ethics.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology, Nursing, or a related field.
2. Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology.
3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word),
4. A fundamental understanding of personal computers and familiarity with the Windows operating system.
5. Experience navigating Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
6. Excellent critical thinking, organizational, detailed and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with computer databases.
2. Tumor registry experience.
3. One of the following:
   1. Current registration as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT®)
   2. A current license to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
   3. A current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
