An experienced tax professional with 5+ years of public accounting experience and strong expertise in real estate taxation is needed to oversee technical review and compliance for real estate clients while leading the tax team, resolving complex tax issues, and managing multiple engagements. The Tax Manager in the Real Estate Practice oversees the preparation and technical review of complex tax engagements for real estate businesses, including passthrough entities and their owners. This position includes researching complex issues, reviewing legal documents, managing engagement economics, leading and mentoring tax staff, and supporting business development efforts. The role plays a pivotal part in team development, client service excellence, and practice expansion.
Key responsibilities include developing strong client relationships with leading real estate companies, providing proactive consulting on complex and emerging tax matters, analyzing industry trends and creating strategic solutions for client challenges, collaborating across service lines to grow business opportunities, reviewing and developing workpapers supporting allocations, basis adjustments, and tax transactions, managing engagement economics, including billing and collection activities, coaching and mentoring team members, building a strong professional network to attract new business and expand services, and representing the firm within the business community and relevant professional organizations.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Law; Master's in Tax/LLM preferred, 5+ years of recent public accounting experience managing real estate tax engagements, significant experience with entity and individual taxation, especially partnerships, ability to analyze flow-through entity distribution and profit/loss provisions in operating agreements, EA license or CPA certification required, strong project and team management skills, excellent communication and networking abilities, proven success in managing and growing strong client relationships, and experience with tax software and technology tools.
