The position has the responsibility for the planning, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of all operational activities and personnel for the Accessioning department. Ensures that all activities are carried out efficiently and in accordance with proper procedure. This is a management position responsible for working with many sites and with cross-functional teams. This position will drive process change, collaboration, quality, and seek continuous improvement within the Accessioning department. Will work closely with the Director of Accessioning to ensure that our values are followed, budgets are managed and departmental goals are attained.
Supervises and manages the staff and daily operations of Accessioning, a 24 hour per day function
Collaborates with internal and external resources including Sales and the Clinical Laboratory to ensure consistent delivery of quality services and continuous quality improvement
Builds, promotes, and develops a strong service culture and dedication to personalized service to ensure client satisfaction
Works with department management to handle escalated issues for assigned business functions
Ensures that employees are trained and compliant with SOP's and competency checklists
Ensures quality control and compliance procedures are followed and QC reports are up to date
Maintains statistics for assigned business functions on productivity and generates reports for review by the Director of Accessioning
Ensures records are kept up-to-date and maintained in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
Oversees, plans, and prepares for inspections
Sets department objectives and performance goals; monitors personnel and resource utilization on an ongoing basis and makes adjustments in staffing to facilitate achievement of the goals and objectives
Supervisors and participates in personnel management activities for the department; selects and hires personnel; conducts or guides supervisor in selection interviews, hiring, motivating and training staff
Conducts or guides supervisors in performance appraisals, documenting deficiencies, developing plans for improvement and counseling employees
Monitors work performance to determine staff resources utilization; reviews monthly work statistics and budget reports; establishes work performance standards and adjusts staffing levels as needed; works to maximize the team's efficiency, productivity and performance
Contributes to the development of internal systems which support the work of the assigned business functions; defines needs and coordinates the development of manual and/or automated systems to facilitate workflow; remains current on hardware and software capabilities and ensures employees are trained in the use of automated equipment or new programs
Ensures that a safe working environment is maintained and that safe work practices are employed
Maintains knowledge of CAP/CLIA requirements
Accountable for the operation of a 24 hour function, including responding to emergencies, and attendance at meetings outside of working hours as needed
Assists with the development and implementation of strategic plans for assigned business functions
Will provide technical assistance to staff for training purposes and for problem solving
Participates in meetings with Sales and Marketing to actively support sales and marketing initiatives
Additional Responsibilities (may be assigned): May assist with the planning and administration of budgets for assigned business functions. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Accessioning
BA/BS degree or equivalent experience preferred
Five (5) or more years of experience supervising a support services operation or business function preferred and at least four years of recent supervisory experience in the healthcare field. Prior experience in a clinical laboratory preferred
Direct sales or customer service skills
Ability to make critical decisions under stressful situations
High exposure to problem solving and decision making in the workplace

Demonstrated success in meeting high performance standards with regard to work quality and quantity
