Assistant Division Manager

Reporting to the Regional Operations and Safety Manager, the Assistant Division Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing a team of driver managers/supervisors within a designated region. This role involves ensuring that drivers adhere to company policies and safety regulations, optimizing route efficiency, and providing support and guidance to enhance performance and job satisfaction, including effective employee/labor relations, driver retention, and driver safety. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a background in transportation or logistics, and a keen ability to solve problems and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

1. Develops strategic plans for optimized performance
2. Review operational effectiveness by overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivational work environment, and implementing changes
3. Interviews, selects, trains, and manages Driver Managers and Supervisors
4. Ensures all personnel have been trained and/or retrained according to operational procedures
5. Follows up with new drivers at regular scheduled intervals on their performance
6. Reviews manpower needs and ensures proper coverage including managing driver dispatch for route personnel
7. Ensures drivers are reporting to work on time and in complete uniform ready to work
8. Ensures employee development by providing ongoing feedback to teams concerning strengths and areas of needed improvement using DriveCam reporting and customer feedback
9. Investigates and acts on feedback regarding drivers and safe operational practices
10. Responsible for planning of future books offs and run change assignment
11. Ensures compliance with safety standards, adherence to all DOT and FMCSA regulations
12. Ensures that all company standards are met for all drivers in the areas of appearance, training, education, safety, and regulatory compliance
13. Make sure drivers are properly credentialed to operate a commercial motor vehicle
14. Work closely with HR to address all levels of personnel matters
15. Work with drivers to ensure good labor relations are maintained
16. Ensure the following of the CBA to ensure proper handling of grievance process
17. Review electronic DOT logs and/or paper DOT logs. Monitors on-time performance on a real-time basis
18. Determines the appropriate level of discipline based on company policy
19. Executes termination of employment if coaching, counseling, disciplinary action fails

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• 5+ years in operations leadership
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and make data-driven decisions
• Ability to exercise considerable diplomacy, judgment, and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships and discretion with the company and union officials
• Safety and Workers Compensation, Labor relations, and CBA experience preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel, Windows applications, e-mail etc.
• Ability to travel as needed

Compensation Range

USD $80,000.00 - USD $105,000.00 /Yr.
