Histology Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated Histology Technician to join our team in Long Island City, NY. As the Histology Technician , you will be responsible for performing complex histological procedures, maintaining accurate records, and recommending operational changes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our processes.

They should be a self-starter with demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business and technical challenges.

Main Duties :

• Perform routine and special histological procedures involving specimen accessioning, grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining (routine and special)
• Follow strict SOP and complete required job-related training as necessary
• Evaluate, modify, or develop procedures to meet special requirements of particular research studies
• Maintain accurate records of all specimens worked with.
• Documentation of all work progress in our Laboratory Information Systems
• Design and recommend processes, systems, and operational changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related subject plus at least two years of technical experience in a histology laboratory
• Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) is desirable but not required
• Experience in preclinical research setting preferred
• Flexible work schedule and the ability to work a late / weekend shift preferred
• Must be detail-oriented, careful, and have high integrity and discipline
• Excellent communication skills and work well in a team environment
