Data Governance Engineer

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

Duration: 12–18 Months

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Engineer to support enterprise data governance initiatives, with a strong focus on Python development, Collibra, API integrations, metadata management, and data lineage. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing and maintaining Python scripts, integrating REST APIs, and working extensively within Collibra.

This individual will contribute to ongoing data governance initiatives and play a key role in an upcoming migration to a cloud-based Collibra environment, including API redevelopment and integration enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Python scripts to support data governance processes and API integrations.
  • Work extensively with Collibra to manage metadata, data lineage, and governance workflows.
  • Design, develop, and maintain REST API integrations, including troubleshooting and enhancements.
  • Support the migration to a cloud-based Collibra environment, including API redevelopment and platform enhancements.
  • Work within a Linux environment to execute scripts, troubleshoot issues, and support development activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve data governance processes, metadata standards, and data management practices.
  • Support data quality initiatives, including controls, metrics, and root cause analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data management or data governance.
  • Hands-on Python development experience, including scripting and API integrations.
  • Daily, hands-on experience working with Collibra.
  • Experience with metadata management and data lineage.
  • Experience developing and supporting REST APIs.
  • Proficiency working in a Linux environment using command-line tools.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with SQL and databases.
  • Experience with Collibra workflow development and BPMN.
  • Exposure to cloud migrations or cloud-based data governance platforms.
