Job Description
Data Analysts identify, extract and mine data from designated sources, reorganize it in a format that can be easily analyzed, integrated and used by either human or machine. They develop statistical, analytical, and executive level reports, dashboards and charts that show data in a context that allows decision-makers to gain insights into the data and make informed business decisions.
Knowledge of: data gathering, cleaning and transforming techniques; data warehousing and ETL techniques; statistical software
Skill in: Coding in languages such as SQL, Python and/or R; Analysis and problem-solving; Reporting and data visualization using software like Tableau; technical writing
Ability to: Curiosity about the meaning hidden in data; Set and meet deadlines; Work with and understand large data sets; Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; QA and troubleshoot data; and develop various statistical, analytical reports, and dashboard reports for various users.
Requirements
Top Skills & Years of Experience: Must Have: · 8+ years of experience gathering requirements from users: o identifying impacted business processes o assessing business needs o identifying IT solution integration. o GAP analysis o SWOT analysis · 6+ years of experience designing technical and business requirement documentation including: o wireframes or screen mockups, o context diagrams o benefits realization o business process models o workflow diagrams o traceability matrix · 4+ years of experience with Agile methodology / SCRUM processes and ceremonies including: o Daily Scrum o Sprint Planning o Backlog Grooming o Sprint Reviews o Sprint Retrospective · 3+ years of experience working with Azure DevOps backlog management, Kanban board, Sprint board, etc. · 5+ years of experience eliciting and decomposing requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria. · 4+ years of experience working as a business analyst on financial systems. · Experience writing test plans and use cases. · Working knowledge of Systems Engineering Methodology (SEM) and Project Management Methodology (PMM) · Senior level understanding of the secure application development lifecycle (SADLC) · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred: · Prior experience working with State or Federal government.
