California Litigation Paralegal | Remote, W-2 | Initial Guaranteed Hours

Location: Fully Remote — U.S.-based applicants only.
Compensation: $30 per hour, with a performance review after three months and the potential for a pay increase.
Work arrangement: Part-time or Full Time

Initial guaranteed hours: 80 hours in month one, 40 hours in month two, and 20 hours in month three.

About the Opportunity

Equivity is seeking a legal professional to support attorneys with California civil litigation matters. This remote W-2 opportunity is suited to a proactive candidate who is comfortable managing deadlines, preparing legal documents, and working independently with attorney teams.

What You'll Do

• Draft, proofread, and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal correspondence.
• Prepare and electronically file documents in California state courts.
• Manage discovery, case files, litigation calendars, and critical deadlines.
• Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
• Keep attorneys informed of case progress and upcoming deadlines.

What We're Looking For

• At least three years of litigation paralegal experience, including hands-on experience supporting California civil litigation matters
• Familiarity with California civil litigation procedures, court filings, discovery, and deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple matters independently and communicate effectively with attorneys and clients.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
• Bachelor's degree
• Reliable internet, home office setup and availability during California business hours.
• Ability to respond to client and team communications within one hour during business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Pacific.
• Preferred: Experience with Clio or similar legal practice management software and previous remote legal support experience.

Compensation and Work Structure

This is a remote W-2 position paying $30 per hour, with a performance review after three months and the potential for a pay increase. The position includes an initial three-month guaranteed-hours program:

• Month 1: 80 guaranteed paid hours
• Month 2: 40 guaranteed paid hours
• Month 3: 20 guaranteed paid hours

These amounts are minimums, not limits on the hours you may work. If you work more than the guaranteed hours in a month, you will be paid for all hours worked.

Beginning in month four, compensation is based on actual hours worked, with no guaranteed minimum. Ongoing hours depend on client assignments and workload.

Participation in the guaranteed-hours program requires accepting assignments within your stated proficiencies, maintaining required availability and responsiveness, and meeting performance expectations.
