Minimum Requirements :
MINIMUMS : High School, or GED, plus four (4) years experience in carpentry work in the capacity of General Carpenter, Floor Covering Installer, Roofer, Framer, or Form Carpenter; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have, or obtain, a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina drivers license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV drivers license eligibility requirements. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and / or City-wide emergencies. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical.

Preferences :
Experience in methods, materials and equipment used in carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, and other maintenance work.
Experience with occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Experience using tools and equipment for a variety of tasks.
Experience in building automated systems.
Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
Ability to use, clean, repair, and maintain equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
