Due to continued growth we have an exciting opportunity for a Fabrication Supervisor with ship building experience to join our team based in Henderson.
This role forms part of our project team building Australia's Marine Defence capability.
The Role
The main duties and responsibilities for the role are :
- Managing and supervising a fabrication team, including performance management, safety management, workflow management, task execution and leadership.
- Assist and oversee the planning and organisation of OPV consolidation in the Assembly and Sustainment Hall.
- Develop and review documentation necessary to facilitate work carried out
- Prepare personnel rosters and timesheets
- Conduct weekly toolbox meetings
- Liaise with client representatives / Project Engineers regarding technical queries, inspections, project scheduling and coordinating deliveries
- Conduct regular inspections on ship building and materials to ensure that works are carried out according to client specifications
- Understand and implement quality control techniques
- Provide accurate daily, weekly and monthly reports as directed
- Formulate safe methods of work in consultation with the HSE Advisor and workforce personnel.
- Participate in the risk assessments where required.
- Identify, assess and control workplace hazard. Hazards may be reported through hazard report cards, JHA’s, workplace inspections, incident investigations or audits.
- Investigate reported hazards and incidents in the area under his / her responsibility and seek further assistance from the HSE Advisor.
- Conduct or participate in daily Pre-Starts and Tool box meetings.
About You
To be successful in the role you will possess the following :
- Recognised Australian Trade Qualification (Boiler making, Metal Fabrication or Plate worker)
- Prior experience in ship building / fabrication works in a largescale workshop environment
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role
- Proficient in use of MS Office suite
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- White Card / Blue Card
