Job Summary

The Ubuntu Center on Racism, Global Movements & Population Health Equity at the Dornsife School of Public Health is seeking a full-time Business and Grants Administrator to work closely with the Deputy Director to oversee center functions and manage the following areas : departmental budgetary oversight and pre and post-award grant administration to federal agencies (e.

g., NIH) and private foundations. A significant part of the job is working closely with the Deputy Director to manage regranting awards for the Illuminating and Addressing Healthcare’s Role in Perpetuating Structural Racism (ISR) project, a three-year, multi-site initiative sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

This individual must have strong leadership abilities, be a self-starter, be comfortable working with financial statements and budgets, and have the ability to work closely with faculty, staff, and students.

About the ISR Project :

The ISR project intends to synthesize and build on existing research to clearly illuminate the historical roots of structural racism in the healthcare system and the modern-day structures, policies, and institutional practices that have resulted in and perpetuated structural racism and a culture of white supremacy.

  • The program’s goals are to : 1) synthesize, develop and conduct research that illuminates specific structures that perpetuate structural racism in the healthcare system;
  • 2) translate findings and develop communications strategies that highlight the magnitude of structural racism for healthcare system leaders and other key stakeholders;

and 3) build accountability and agency for historically and systemically marginalized racial populations to lead structural-change efforts in the healthcare system, centering the participation of these populations in accountability structures and in building agency to exert power.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the financial implementation of the ISR research project, including, but not limited to, regranting, sub-award setup, monitoring, and closeout to maintain financial compliance.
  • Oversight of all financial operations, including budget tracking and projections, budget meetings with the Center Director and Deputy Director, fiscal year closeout, and other activities that can support the Center's strategic planning and financial goals.
  • Oversee center Pcard program to ensure spending compliance with sponsored projects and university guidelines, and work with the Administrative Coordinator to ensure monthly reconciliation of Pcard statements are completed on time.
  • Work with the Director and Deputy Director on annual fiscal planning.
  • Manage the center’s pre-award submissions and provide post-award grant monitoring, projections, submitting EPAFS (allocate personnel time to specific accounts), labor redistributions, and journal entries, to ensure grants are appropriately charged.
  • Oversight of all center financial transactions and spending compliance monitoring.
  • Other duties as agreed upon by all parties.

Required Qualifications

  • A master's degree is required.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Excel and Teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience submitting NIH or other federal grants.
  • Banner and Hyperion experience preferred.

This position is classified as exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from Minimum $62,.00 to a Maximum $93,.

00. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
