Work Environment : Primarily works in a public-facing library environment with office duties and the possibility of occasional travel.

Summary : Manages all aspects of library services to adult patrons. Provides reference and reader's advisory service. Plans and implements adult programming. Assists the Library Services Manager in managing Library Assistant-Circulation staff.

Essential Functions

• Plan, implement, and evaluate educational, recreational, enriching adult programs
• Staff the public facing reference desk and provide reference and reader's advisory service in-person, by phone, and online
• Provide referrals to appropriate internal and external sources
• Assist patrons in the use of library resources, services, and materials
• Conduct outreach and partner with community organizations
• Learn Circulation functions to assist with training and managing the Library Assistant-Circulation staff
• Resolve issues escalated from the Circulation desk
• Manage seasonal Summer Library Assistant-Circulation staff including recruiting, training, evaluating, and disciplining staff
• Assist the Library Services Manager in managing Library Assistant-Circulation staff

Required Education and Experience

Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution

Preferred Education and Experience

5 years public library experience

Supervisory experience

Second language is a plus

Additional Eligibility Requirements

Valid driver's license, ability to pass Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Fingerprint Based Federal Criminal History Check.
