Qualifications :

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Natural Resources, Forestry, Land Management, Agriculture or engineering OR BA / BS Degree in Civil Engineering, agricultural engineering, or related fields

• Valid Driver's License, Experience with NRCS, Forestry, Watershed, Emergency disaster recovery or related field.
• Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
• PowerPoint, ACCESS, HANA, NRCS Software

Duties :

Assist the NRCS-New Mexico staff with planning, design, and inspection for wildfire restoration, especially in critical watershed areas.

Provide technical expertise, and manage complex technical project planning, coordination, and training. Work is primarily performed in environments where forest fires have occurred, steep terrain with prolonged standing, walking over uneven ground, and exposure to harsh weather conditions.

Conditions are not in ?active? fire status, however, there may be areas that are considered ?active? and could ignite. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and must be worn while working in these areas.

Overtime may be required during this operation.

• Assist in the restoration of wildfire charred land, stabilizing soil, minimizing flooding, and ensuring water quality. 20%
• Assist in controlling erosion of the land and preventing residue from moving downstream filling reservoirs, and putting endangered species and community water supplies at risk. 20%
• Assist in the design and restoration of native vegetation and ecosystems and other duties assigned for wildfire restoration. 20%
• Provide support to NRCS staff in managing construction projects. Coordinate with local project sponsors to aid in managing construction project schedules. 20%
• Provide guidance on Watershed Programs NEPA, Plans, reviews, and assessments. Conducts analyses of issues associated with ecological and watershed policies, synthesizes data and information, and provides advice and recommendations on critical EWP issues. 20%

• Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
• Travel Requirements : Travel to and from the State of New Mexico, Lodging, and per diem paid through the NRCS agreement.
• Overnight travel : Assignment dictates the position must be on site for a period of time from 3-6 months.
• Air travel anticipated : Travel to and from the State of New Mexico approximately once each 30 days
• Rental cars : Position will travel with NRCS employees in a GOV
• Health and Safety Considerations : Work is primarily performed in environments where forest fires have occurred, steep terrain with prolonged standing, walking over uneven ground, and exposure to weather element conditions.

• Required Safety Gear : Coveralls, gloves, hard hat, fire retardant attire and all other PPE required to preform the duties of the position is provided,
• Safety Gear Use : At all times while in the field where forest fires occurred.
• Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
