Essential Job Functions
- The Payroll / HR Specialist at the Palisades Park School District is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll and human resources functions, including overseeing the time and attendance system, payroll software management, and compliance with payroll tax regulations
- This role also involves supporting the Directors with HR-related tasks and ensuring adherence to the district's mission and standards
- Perform bi-monthly payroll including entering manual time sheets, uploading hours, and approving vacation / PTO for salary exempt employees
- Manage and update payroll software to keep current employee pay rates and departments
- Assist Palisades Prk employees with inquiries regarding their paycheck and hours worked
- Complete ad hoc government reporting and municipal requests for employee wage information
- Ensure timely generation and distribution of W-2 forms by the payroll company
- Assist Directors with HR documents including Onboarding, Benefit selection, and Termination documents
- Review Incident reports and coordinate with the Broker / Converge for claims processing
- Report all Workman Compensation claims to the controller and Broker, ensuring proper processing and employee awareness of covered providers
- Perform background checks prior to employee start dates
- Centralize and maintain Association information for all employees, including background check information and hours worked

Qualifications Profile
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to :
High School diploma or equivalent.Prior successful clerical experience preferred.FLSA Status : Non-exempt
