Development Manager
The Development Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Development with the strategic marketing plan. The role's responsibility is to harness organizational input and support, to execute the marketing and development efforts in order to increase charitable support, raise agency visibility, build brand recognition, and increase patient and donor satisfaction. General expectations include the use of a variety of communication and media tools to strengthen CAT's brand, connection to donors; planning & execution of fundraising appeals; creation & distribution of marketing materials; addition or update of website content. Distributing these communications will be through a diverse variety of internal and external communication vehicles.
This role acts as the primary, controlled, outward voice of CAT, publishing content that will illustrate what CAT values, and will represent the level of care the agency upholds in its operation. The Marketing and Development Director will produce communications via channels such as email and social media, where the content delves deeper, beyond communicating facts about the agency's hours, mode of operation, etc.; the Director will create copyright that tells "CAT's story" for website content, to rally support for emotional appeals on behalf of the agency and its patients : and to summarize a year of operational success in the annual report. As the head of development, the Director will keep CAT compliant as a 501C(3) charitable organization and will upkeep charity certification, foster charity endorsements, and enroll in national fundraising programs (e.g. Engage for Good, Walmart Round Up, etc.). The creative refresh of branded products & apparel, the production of branded agency collateral, and partnership with media and the local community members will be methods for this role to build alliances and empower staff, to positively impact team culture, and will foster donor support. The means to connect with donors in the past have included : Seasonal Appeals, Corporate Appeals, Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser, Art of Recovery Event, Community Fundraisers (Restaurant, etc.), Giving Tuesday and a Winter Holiday campaign.
Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a business degree. Fundraising certification is strongly preferred. A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience, including demonstration of prior project management and event oversight is required. Demonstrated success in the use of social media, external and internal communication tools as well as media relations. The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing must be apparent. Problem solving, multi-tasking, and ethical decision-making are needed to confidentially respond to or serve clients is mandatory. An understanding of CAT's Mission is vital. Supervisory experience is preferred.
