Data Center Technician - Technical IT 2

Our client, a leading organization in the technology and data management sector, is seeking a Data Center Technician - Technical IT 2 to join their team. As a Data Center Technician - Technical IT 2, you will be part of the Operations Support team supporting data center infrastructure and IT hardware maintenance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title : Data Center Technician - Technical IT 2

Location : Onsite - Hoffman Estates, IL

Pay Range : $28 - $30 / hr + Benefits & PTO

End Date : 3 / 31 / 2025 - possibility of extension

Day Shift B : 12-hrs (Thu-Sat) & (Wed-Sat)

What's the Job?

Prepare, stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns of hardware components such as racks, hard drives, and switches according to detailed instructions and protocols.

Conduct post-execution quality checks to ensure proper grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling in compliance with safety and deployment standards.

Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify issues quickly and replace faulty components following standard procedures.

Decommission hardware for simple upgrades or refreshes, including memory upgrades and OS rebuilds, with minimal supervision.

Communicate, report, and escalate incidents effectively to the appropriate Data Center Technician Leads.

What's Needed?

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification.

Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.

At least 1 year of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays.
