Spend your summer in the outdoors and help create a delightful, thrilling, and memorable summer working with children! Spend your days in a beautiful day camp setting, with fields that go on for days, a beautiful lake, a ropes course and climbing wall! Camp Grossman is seeking Activity Specialists for arts & crafts, archery, basketball, boating, climbing wall, drama, dance, fishing, gymnastics, photography, knitting, mountain biking, nature, orienteering, ropes course, general sports, sewing, science, soccer, street hockey, video production, yoga-wellness, and more.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • plan and lead creative, enjoyable activities for 40-minute periods
  • co-create a community which fosters mutual respect and welcomes the diversity / uniqueness of each person
  • teach and develop skills necessary to complete the planned project
  • build children’s knowledge of specialty area
  • manage supplies (may include cleaning supplies)
  • work in partnership with peers and Camp Leadership to provide a happy, safe, and memorable summer for the children

Orientation takes place the week of June 17th and ends with Visiting Day (a pre-camp visit for all campers and families to meet staff) on Sunday, June 23.

The regular camp season begins June 24 and ends August 16 (with the option to work the following 9th Week for additional pay).

The camp day runs from 8 : 15 AM - 4 : 15 PM, Monday through Friday, with 3 or 4 staff meetings on various Monday afternoons or evenings.

Activity specialists also work 2 additional evenings - either running their activity for campers or assisting with a family night or cookout, depending on their position in camp.

While we prefer staff who can start Orientation Week and work the entire regular season, we are happy to consider quality candidates who may have conflicting obligations.

About the Camp

Camp Grossman is located on 75 acres of the Hale Reservation in Dover. Camp Grossman welcomes over 1600 campers and over 300 staff each summer.

The team is a dynamic group that works to create a wonderful experience for children while assisting them in building confidence and skills.

Requirements

Education : High school or equivalent experience

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria .

  • Is proficient in subject area (art, photo, video production, etc.) and able to translate this to a child-focused project
  • Possesses the ability to create a sense of fun
