Donald P. Ney Administration Building PRIMARY PURPOSE :
The Behavior Support Technician will support and train teachers in implementing suggested behavior strategies for students. The Behavior Support Technician will mentor and provide immediate and direct support to students who exhibit behavioral challenges that may cause injury or harm to self and / or others.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
1. Immediate and initial responder to students with behavioral challenges. Collect data to shape student behavior by informing educational behavior plans with best practices, implementing educational behavior plans, monitoring, observing, and evaluating the execution of behavioral plans within educational and real-life settings.
2. Assist, support and accompany students experiencing behavioral challenges throughout the school day to allow them to continue to access the curriculum.
3. Monitor and support the implementation of educational learning programs (communication, self-help and self-management, social interaction and play skills) as created.
4. Collect data weekly on all behaviors targeted and share data / findings with campus administrator, teacher, or district personnel.
5. Assist and collaborate with campus teachers and administrators to implement strategies to prevent and diminish opportunities for students to engage in inappropriate behavior.
6. Capture appropriate documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with district procedures while maintaining organization.
7. Be willing to acquire and apply new skills through training, be comfortable using technology, and work independently.
8. Ability to work and travel across multiple school settings

Physical Demands / Environment Factors :
Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of the computer; Work with frequent interruptions; will be required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs frequently; regular attendance; apply CPI techniques in an appropriate and effective manner. Frequent district-wide travel is also required.

Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through 11 / 26 / 2025.
