Maintenance Driver II - Data Entry/Field position
Description
St. Louis County Government Department of Transportation and Public Works is looking for individuals interested in becoming Maintenance Driver IIs throughout St.
Louis County. These positions will report to an assigned work location and lead a crew on assignments, perform administrative tasks and skilled roadway maintenance work including heavy equipment operation.
Vacancies exist within various Districts and specialty crews.
The typical starting salary range is between $21.24-$24.86 hourly depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience as well as budgetary considerations.

Examples of Duties
Essential Function Examples
Operate heavy equipment, vehicles and machinery requiring a Commercial Drivers License in maintenance activities.
Perform general roadway or grounds maintenance and sign manufacturing, installation and service on a specialized crew.
Repair and replace asphalt roadways and surfaces.
Maintain, repair or install concrete structures or surfaces.
Complete and assist with daily work
Marginal Function Examples
Care for and clean designated indoor and outdoor areas.
Provide care and propagation for trees, shrubs, turf and plants.
Remove snow and ice.
Some positions lead lower level workers operating heavy equipment.
Perform administrative tasks associated with work completion.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in general maintenance or related work or an equivalent amount of training and experience.
Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
Additional Information
SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT : A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.
The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above.
The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment.
After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire.
Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.
The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director / Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
