Intern Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer Intern assists with designing new processes and manufacturing processes for current and future production as well as projects with Karma’s contract manufacturing partners.
Must be eligible to work up to 40 hours per week during the June - September time frame.
Responsibilities (included, but are not limited to) :
- Assists during pilot runs, product testing and qualification, and new product introductions.
- Works closely with the AME engineers and Manager to coordinate and lead DfX activities for new and modified products, providing early feedback based on best manufacturing practices.
- Embraces cost improvements through DFM and Kaizen.
- Helps with analyzing and implementing Engineering changes.
- Assists with evaluating and proposing new equipment and tooling.
- Provides help identifying joining, painting, and assembling technologies based on virtual benchmarking.
- Coordinates tests for new technologies and methods.
- Provides technical support for Body, Paint, and General Assembly operations.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Works closely with maintenance and / or repair services to meet PM schedule.
- Creates or updates process documentation, including layouts, standard operating procedures (VSOP’s), process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, and control plans based on known DFMEA and process definitions.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications :
- Registered in a degree program, i.e. Bachelor's or Master's degree, in a related Engineering or science field such as Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
- Intermediate level CAD Experience : Catia V5, AutoCAD. Desired : Polyworks, Verisurf.
- Intermediate level Microsoft Office : Excel, PowerPoint.
- Basic knowledge in automotive joining, painting and assembling methods, process, and constraints.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a keen attention to detail.
- Leadership and team work skills.
- Language skills : must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 : 2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 : 2015), as applicable is preferred.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend approximately 20% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in an office environment and 80% of the time in the facility.
When working in the facility, it requires the use of personal protective equipment, including (but not limited to) steel toe shoes, bump caps, safety goggles, ear protection, and reflective colored vest if working in the warehouse.

Compensation :
$25 / per hour - $35 / per hour. Compensation will vary depending on the candidate's current level of education.
