Job descriptionWe are seeking a compassionate and skilled RVT to join our surgery team. Provide compassionate care to surgical patients. Communicate effectively with clients, referring veterinarians, and team members. Perform routine in-house laboratory procedures, including specimen collection, handling, and preparation according to hospital protocols. Maintain accurate and professional medical records. Demonstrate strong knowledge of medical treatments, including CRI setup / maintenance, NG tube placement, central line management, glucose curves, post-surgical care, and oxygen-dependent patient monitoring. Assess patient ventilation, oxygenation, and acid / base status using pulse oximetry, capnography, and arterial blood gas results. Assist with sedated procedures and post-operative care planning with surgeons. surgical prep, instrument cleaning, autoclave and gas sterilizer operation, and inventory management. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the surgery department. Deliver exemplary customer service while exercising critical thinking and teamwork. High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 2 years of surgical experience strongly preferred. RVT licensure or equivalent required Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations for medication dosages, CRIs, and client billing. Must maintain California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire if not already obtained with RVT licensure. Why Join AVS?
