Assistant Professor in Forensic and Legal Psychology, Tenure Track

The Forensic and Legal Psychology program at Marymount University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in August 2024.

The standard teaching load is 3 / 3, all at the graduate level. Successful candidates will demonstrate interest in teaching in a combination of the following areas : legal and treatment responses to substance use / abuse, psychopathology, and treatment of children and adolescents.

The candidate is expected to pursue an active scholarship agenda, applicable to the field of forensic and legal psychology, and participate in service to the program, school, college, and university as requested.

The search committee prefers candidates with teaching and research experience and an interest in inquiry-based teaching. Applicants must have a doctorate or assurance they will complete the degree by August 2024.

Applications should include a cover letter, c.v., evidence of excellence in teaching and research, a statement on diversity, and at least three letters of recommendation;

About the Forensic and Legal Psychology Program Marymount

Marymount’s Forensic and Legal Psychology program is part of the Marymount University School of Social and Behavioral Sciences housed in the College of Sciences and Humanities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and integrate the mission and core values of Marymount University and Academic Affairs, including our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Teach a 3 / 3 course load each year
  • Maintain a successful record of quality, peer-reviewed scholarship
  • Maintain office hours at times that provide appropriate access to students.

Other Duties

  • Assume professional responsibilities as requested by the Dean of the College and / or School Director
  • Engage in ongoing professional development that will include scholarship activities such as research, presentations, and participation with professional organizations
  • Contribute to the University, College of Sciences and Humanities, and School of Social and Behavioral Sciences functions and services, including assessments, and continuous improvement activities.

Job Requirements

Doctorate (or ABD with completion by August, 2024) in psychology, counseling, social work, or closely related discipline from an accredited institution;

successful teaching experience.
