Senior Manager, Insights Consulting Customer & Market Intelligence
Walmart is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Senior Manager of Customer Insights to lead macrotrend analysis and uncover how evolving social, economic, and cultural dynamics are shaping customer behavior. This role will be instrumental in guiding Walmart's customer strategy by identifying emerging patterns in retail spending, lifestyle shifts, and sentiment across diverse U.S. demographics. This position requires a strong foundation in consumer research, trend analysis, and strategic storytelling.
Core responsibilities include :
- Customer Understanding : Serve as a subject matter expert on evolving customer needs, identifying how external forces are reshaping shopping behaviors and spending priorities.
- Strategic Insight : Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to generate forward-looking insights that inform enterprise strategy and guide decision-making.
- Storytelling & Communication : Translate complex insights into compelling narratives and strategic recommendations for senior leadership, merchandising, marketing, and strategy teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external research partners to ensure alignment and drive impact.
- Continuous Improvement : Champion a culture of curiosity, learning, and innovation to elevate the quality and influence of insights.
- Talent & Team Development : Mentor associates, foster collaboration, and uphold Walmart's values of belonging.
Skills and experience required :
Research Expertise : 5-7 years' experience in insights, including designing and executing end-to-end qualitative and quantitative research studies, data synthesis, and reporting.Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.Strong analytical skills with experience in synthesizing large datasets and translating them into actionable insights.Tools & Platforms : Experience with research tools and platforms (e.g., Nielsen, Kantar, Mintel, syndicated data, survey platforms).Project Management : Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and manage multiple priorities.Vendor Management : Experience managing third-party research vendors including contract negotiation, scope definition, and quality assurance.Minimum qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Sociology, Marketing, or related field and 5+ years' experience in marketing research, data analytics, consulting, or related field OR7+ years' experience in marketing research, data analytics, consulting, or related field.Preferred qualifications :
Experience in retail, CPG, or customer strategy.Masters : Business Administration
