CENTRAL PROCESSOR - LAB

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

High school graduate or equivalent with two years of phlebotomy experience. Medical Terminology Course preferred. More technical aspects require sufficient combination of education and experience to perform.

Experience

On-the-job training under direct supervision of qualified technicians, technologists, or peer trainers with certification by successful completion of training checklist.

Physical

Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing within normal range. Exposure to biological and mechanical hazards. Operates various lab analyzers, centrifuges, refrigerators and freezers, alarm systems, incubators, rotators, water baths, biological safety hoods, incinerators, personal computers, terminals and printers, telephone. Lifting, carrying, pushing / pulling up to 20 lbs. Frequent standing and walking. Occasional sitting and bending.

JOB SUMMARY

Process and reject all specimen types depending on specimen intergrity. Blood, urine, stool samples, spinal fluids, and any other specimens will be received into the lab information system, centrifuged, separated, packaged, or distributed to the appropriate department or reference lab.
