About the Project Accountant II Position
The Project Accountant II will play an essential role in supporting the Operations Department by overseeing project financials and contributing to the company's overall success.
This role requires a detail-oriented, proactive professional with a strong focus on customer service, time management, and effective communication. This role will perform the responsibilities generally described below, as well as any additional duties as needed to support the overall objectives of the company.
Responsibilities
- Financial Analysis : Monitor project financial performance by tracking costs, revenue, and profitability. Analyze variances and provide insights to project teams for cost optimization.
- Cost Control & Expense Management : Monitor and review project costs and expenses to ensure alignment with budgets and company policies. Identify variances or overruns, resolve discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Financial Reporting : Prepare and distribute regular financial reports to project managers and / or senior management, highlighting key financial metrics and project status as instructed.
- Invoicing & Billing : Generate accurate and timely invoices to clients, ensuring compliance with contract terms and billing schedules.
- Accounts Receivable : Monitor and follow up on accounts receivable to ensure timely payment from clients. Resolve any billing discrepancies or issues.
- Accounts Payable : Reconcile client payments with subcontractor expenses and ensure timely , accurate disbursements.
- Project Closeout : Assist Project Managers with finalizing financial closeout documentation and system updates.
- Compliance : Ensure that all financial activities adhere to relevant financial regulations and company policies, and that all system data input is accurate and timely .
- Audit Support : Provide documentation and insights for internal and external audits.
- Communication Management : Oversee internal and external financial communications, ensuring prompt and professional responses.
- Process Improvement : Identify , recommend, and implement improvements to accounting processes and systems.
Qualifications
2-4 years of project accounting experience (required).Experience with Deltek VantagePoint (strongly preferred).Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Intermediate proficiency with Adobe Acrobat .Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain precise documentation while managing multiple priorities.Analytical and resourceful problem- solver who approaches challenges with persistence and creativity rather than roadblocks.Demonstrates both independence and collaboration, knowing when to take initiative and when to align with others for results.Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with shifting priorities.Maintains a professional, service-oriented presence that fosters trust and positive relationships with colleagues and clients.Known for being dependable, proactive, and self-directed, consistently driving tasks forward without requiring close supervision.Thrives in a culture that values accountability, mutual respect, and forward momentum.Perks & Benefits
