Purpose

The Manager, Market Research is a member of the company commercial team that partners closely with Marketing, Finance, Business Development, customer experience, and Pipeline planning.

This position will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting market data to provide valuable insights that drive strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical market dynamics, strong analytical skills, and a passion for staying ahead of industry trends.

The Market Research Manager serves as an internal consultant to leadership and brand teams and helps them make informed strategic decisions through analytic guidance and insights.

Main Responsibilities

Market Analysis : Conduct comprehensive market research to analyze trends, opportunities, and potential risks in the pharmaceutical industry.

Monitor competitor activities, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies impacting the market.

Primary and Secondary Research : Design and execute both qualitative and quantitative research studies to gather primary data from key stakeholders.

Utilize secondary research sources to gather relevant industry data, reports, and market intelligence.

  • Data Collection and Analysis : Gather, organize, and analyze data using statistical methods and market research tools. Interpret data to provide actionable insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Surveys : Develop and implement surveys to gather feedback from healthcare professionals, patients, and other relevant stakeholders.

Analyze survey results to identify market preferences, unmet needs, and opportunities for product improvement.

Competitor Intelligence : Maintain a comprehensive understanding of competitor products, market positioning, and strategic initiatives.

Provide regular updates on competitor activities to inform business strategy.

Trend Monitoring : Stay informed about industry trends, advancements in pharmaceutical research, and evolving consumer preferences.

Proactively identify opportunities and challenges based on emerging market trends.

Collaboration : Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, and product development, and customer experience to align research efforts with business objectives.

Communicate research findings effectively to internal stakeholders.

Ad hoc Analysis - responsible ad hoc analytic projects based on the requests from Finance, Marketing, Business Development, customer experience, or pipeline planning.

  • Help management team to identify opportunities and threats through primary and secondary research & analytics.
  • Assist in scenario planning.

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of market research experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Extensive knowledge and use of both primary and secondary data. Experience in conducting primary market research projects and understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods is required.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory framework and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with syndicated data sources and market research databases and studies.
  • Ability to think strategically and connect analytics with the overarching business questions, and understand the link between brand strategy and analytic insights.
  • Manage ambiguity by questioning data and / or stakeholder for further nuanced information.
  • High attention to details.
  • Ability to multitask and deliver results in tight timelines, and adaptability to fast paced, frequently changing environment.
  • Team player and collaborates well with cross-functional team members from diverse backgrounds and work styles.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Must be proficient with all MS Office applications, including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Adobe; advanced Excel skills required.

Education

Bachelor's Degree from a four-year accredited university required, preferably in business, marketing, market research, ore related field.

Advanced degrees in business or sciences are preferred.
