TheSystems Engineer oversees and coordinates the work of technicalteams on systems projects ensuring the successful designimplementation operation and technical management of thoseprojects.
Taking a holistic approach to systems engineering theSystems Engineer ensures that all aspects of a system project areconsidered and addressed.
The Systems Engineer works closely withstakeholders to understand their needs and then develops anddocuments technical requirements that meet those needs.
The SystemsEngineer leads the design team in developing a system architecturethat meets all of the requirements. After the system is designedthe Systems Engineer oversees the implementation of the systemworking with the implementation team to ensure that it meets all ofthe requirements.
Once the system is deployed the Systems Engineermanages the technical aspects of the system including monitoringperformance troubleshooting problems and makingimprovements.
KeyResponsibilities
- Manage all technical aspects of product or system designand strategic architecture including directing multiple labresources for large scale product or system deployments
- Manage subcontractor resources supporting all systemengineering areas (definition requirements analysis architectureroadmaps synthesis systems analysis and implementation)
- Conduct product or system design synthesis translatingrequirements into physical architectures for systems of highcomplexity to include defining and refining internal and externalinterfaces
- Develop technical reports anddiagrams detailing product or system attributes
- Direct teams to implement document and maintain theproducts architecture roadmaps designs procedures standards andmetrics as well as ensure compliance and conformity of softwarearchitecture and technology standards
- Compilereport input from other researchers and prepare final reportdeliverables
- Serve as a resource and SubjectMatter Expert (SME) for systems engineering tools andtechnologies
AdditionalResponsibilities
- Develop roadmaps for Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations(EMSO) test and training infrastructure at the NSTTC
- Determine needs and methods for integration of NSTCC EMSOactivities with other test and training ranges
- Recommend methodologies and specific infrastructure toperform test and evaluation activities and crewmember training forspace warfighting systems
- Provide detailedrequirements development and decomposition to implement NSTTC EMSOrecommendations down to key performanceparameters
RequiredMinimum Qualifications
- Space and / or Electronic Warfare experience that includeseither operations test maintenance of mission or test rangesystems
- Proficient in the development andpublication of technical reports
- Stronganalytical and briefingskills
