Primary Purpose :

Assist campus and teachers with the support of English Learners (EL).

Qualifications :

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Some experience working with children
• Bilingual preferred; Spanish, Nepali, Telegu, French

Major Responsibilities and Duties :

• Work with English Learners to support their language development and acquisition.
• Prepare small group or individual lessons for EL’s based on direction from classroom teacher or campus administrator.
• Provide feedback to students on their progress.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, work with individual students or small groups.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Able to maintain confidential information
• Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions :

Maintain emotional control under stress. Position requires frequent sitting, bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, overhead reaching, keyboarding, and wrist flexion / extension.
